General Summary:

Responsible primarily for all aspects of building, assembling, and preparing MRI Simulators consisting of a motorized table, fiberglass molded parts mounted to steel frames, wooden table platforms, touch screen monitors, electronic control assemblies, fans, LED strips, polycarbonate panels, and other aluminum brackets, stops, and guides. The position involves the patching of pre-made fiberglass molds using body filler, sandpaper, sanders, and paint to repair defects or discrepancies. Also, the fabrication and installation of wooden components using table saw, miter saw, and router. The Technician will build custom cable assemblies, solder simple circuit boards, assemble electronic enclosures, route cable bundles, locate, drill and mount switches, brackets, motors, and electronic control enclosures to the system table, frame, and shell. Instructions will be given verbally, with mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, images, example models, and written documentation. They will be using hand tools, drills, sanders, jig saw, table and band saws, routers, drill press, multimeters, power supplies, soldering iron, and milling machine to perform duties. Candidate must have strong mechanical aptitude and at least 3 years of experience using hand and power tools.

 

Primary Duties:

  • Assemble electronic control enclosures
  • Build cable assemblies and wiring harnesses using various crimpers and connectors
  • Fabricate and assemble wooden components
  • Glue, caulk, sand, and paint wood and fiberglass seams
  • Measure, locate, and mount various brackets, braces, and electronic components
  • Assemble fiberglass molded parts to metal frames and wooden panels
  • Patch, fill, and sand blemishes in fiberglass molds
  • Assemble wooden shipping crates and package completed devices for delivery to customer sites
  • Populate, solder, and test printed circuit boards

 

Secondary Duties:

  • Bench testing of completed assemblies and sub-assemblies
  • Repair and refurbish customer returns
  • Use vertical milling machine to create and modify assembly components
  • Computer assembly and limited software installation
  • Assist in limited inventory and Bill of Material control, ordering, stocking and tagging of component parts
  • Assist others in authoring, or directly author documentation and drawings of the assembly and testing processes
  • Miscellaneous other assembly tasks as assigned
  • Perform quality assurance inspections on received products from subcontractors and vendors according to written specifications
  • Potential for travel to assist with product installations at customer sites

 

Requirements:

  • 3 years of experience in mechanical assembly using various hand and power tools
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with good problem solving skills
  • Ability to follow written and verbal assembly and testing instructions given adequate hands-on training
  • Ability to communicate effectively with acting supervisor
  • Familiarity with PC’s and able to interact with most common Microsoft Software programs with given adequate instruction
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
